Dr. MG Rajamanickam is an experienced Urology specialist in Chennai, currently serving as a Consultant Urologist at Bharathiraja Speciality Hospital (T Nagar) and St. Isabel's Hospital (Mylapore). In 2013 he retired from a long career of 25 years in teaching.
After completing his MBBS and MS in General Surgery, Dr. Rajamanickam obtained the MCh (Urology) qualification from Govt. Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, in 1987. He then worked as Assistant Professor of Urology at Stanley Medical College in Chennai from 1988 to 2000. Subsequently, he was promoted as Professor of Urology, Kilpauk Medical College and Govt. Royapettah Hospital, Chennai, where he was also head of the department of Urology at these institutions when he left in 2006. Finally, Dr. Rajamanickam served as Professor of Urology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Porur, Chennai, until he retired in July 2013.
Dr. Rajamanickam has trained over 30 M.Ch (Uro) postgraduates during his teaching career. He has been an Examiner for the M.Ch (Uro) and DNB (Uro) candidates in various medical colleges across the country, and an Inspector of hospitals seeking DNB (Uro) accreditation in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. His main professional interest lies in the areas of urolithiasis and urological malignancy, and he has also been associated with kidney transplantation programmes for more than 20 years. Dr. Rajamanickam has presented over 60 papers in zonal and national Urology conferences and published over 10 articles in journals. He is an active member of several medical associations, and has served as Secretary and President of the Madras Urological Society as well as of the Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry Association of Urologists.
